Bakers, Tasters & Judges
There are a number of different ways to participate in CupcakeCamp as an attendee. You can choose to be a Baker (you bring the cupcakes), a Taster (you eat the cupcakes), or a Judge (you choose who made the best cupcakes of them all!) Here’s more information about the roles you can play at the event:
Taster: This is the easiest part. Your job as a taster is to show up and hang out with all of the other attendees! It doesn’t get much better than that, huh?
Baker: Your job is to bring cupcakes to the event, and make sure you show up on time to get your tasty works-of-art checked in before the feeding frenzy begins. There won’t be any place to bake or decorate your cupcakes on-site so make sure you do it before you get to CupcakeCamp. As a baker, you can also enter your cupcakes into the competition to win glorious prizes. There is a pretty strict protocol for checking in your cupcakes so make sure you follow the rules:
1. After you get your ticket, email email@example.com with your FULL name and how many cupcakes you expect to bring. If you know what kind of cupcakes you’re going to bake, include that information as well (ex: Jane Smith, 2 dozen Vanilla cupcakes with Caramel icing.) The deadline for registering as a baker is 3 days prior to the event.
2. Bake your cupcakes! woo hoo!
3. When you get to the event, hand off your cupcakes to the volunteers and fill out a short card that has more information about your cupcakes. (Example: If they’re vegan, gluten-free, made with bacon, etc.)
4. If you want to participate in one of the contests, tell the volunteers and they will set aside some of your cupcakes for the Judges’ table.
Judge: There are a limited number of spaces available for Judges. As a judge, your job is to sit at the Judges’ table and taste cupcakes. You will help determine which ones are the best examples of cupcakeness in their respective categories. If you do request to become a judge, you must arrive at the event before the contest begins, otherwise you’ll lose your spot at the table 😦
